A Bit About Me…

I have worn many hats as an adult – mother, non-profit board member, entrepreneur and small business owner, scholastic researcher, and community advocate, to name a few. Each role has helped shape my views on effective policy and inspired in me a passion for helping others.

I was born in Munich, Germany while my father was stationed at the Murnau Army Base and grew up as a “military brat” moving over 20 times before graduating college. After graduating cum laude from Xavier University, and obtaining a Certificate from the Sorbonne, I came to Colorado to attend the University of Denver Korbel School of Int’l Studies. I graduated with a Master’s in International Studies as well as completing coursework, exams and a prospectus towards a PhD in Comparative Politics, International Security and International Relations. It was during graduate school when I fell in love with our beautiful state.

When my husband had a job opportunity in Fort Collins in 2010, we jumped at the chance to return to Colorado and settled in the Fossil Lake Ranch neighborhood. There’s a uniquely inviting sense of community in Fort Collins that we’ve never experienced anywhere else. We immediately felt welcomed and can’t imagine a better place to raise our three children. Our children attend local Fort Collins public schools. Two attend Fossil Ridge and our youngest is a 4th grader at Zach Elementary.

Each year my appreciation grows for our great city. Over the last decade, in addition to starting & growing web-based small businesses, I’ve been giving back. I’ve volunteered with non-profits, in schools and advocated for better policies. I currently serve on the board of The Family Center/La Familia and previously served as a co-leader of Moms Demand Action.  As I’ve become more passionate about local politics, I recently joined the board of Blue Rising, a Colorado political action committee and Co-Chair the Colorado Coalition Against Gun Violence.

Last year, when I saw the devastating effect of COVID on local businesses, I created Feed the NoCo Frontline to help restaurants and healthcare workers during the early days of the Covid crisis. These efforts included raising more than $36,000 to purchase meals from struggling restaurants in order to deliver to our hardworking frontline healthcare workers. We were able to deliver over 3,000 meals to eleven healthcare facilities and provide financial assistance to 49 restaurants in just a few short weeks.

Now I’m ready to give back by serving as your next Fort Collins City Council Member. With my educational background in comparative politics, my professional background as a small business owner and my experience as a volunteer, advocate and fundraiser, I’ll bring a fresh and creative mindset to City Council to lead our city into the future while protecting our people and community.
